Turbulence - Catherine Howe

Catherine Howe, Turbulence, pastel on sanded paper, 9” x 12” 2019.

Catherine Howe is a New England pastel artist who draws inspiration from nature, both water and sky. The challenge of portraying the relationships between the shifting atmosphere and the constant changes in the sea are what she strives to convey in her pastel paintings. Catherine captures moments of silence and movement in the sky; the calm before the storm. She is inspired by color, light, and shadows and the ever changing New England landscape.

Howe graduated from Indiana University and began her career as a graphic designer and art director for various Ad Agencies. Her work can be seen in galleries in Newport, Rhode Island, Cape Cod, New York, California Massachusetts and Maine.
